Field Supervisor – Maintenace Division

Job Summary

This is supervisory position, responsible for managing: 1) a Team of Employees, 2) a fleet of Equipment and 3) Quality Control on job sites.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Regular Task List

Beginning of the day

The 1st hour of the day is the most import part of the day. Setting up our teams to succeed, in a positive manner, will yield the best results possible.

  • Arrive at office a minimum of 30 minutes prior to time that gates open. (Time varies throughout the year)
  • Greet employees as they arrive.
  • Manage, lead by example and "set tone" for the day.
  • Ensure everyone is being productive.
  • Ensure everyone is in uniform and prepared to start their day.
  • Distribute Work Orders to Crew Foreman.
  • Coordinate and direct traffic in the yard, ensuring crews leave by desired time.

Onsite/Plan of Action

  • Create a Game Plan prior to leaving the office
  • Maintain Daily Activity Log
  • Conduct Site Inspections and fill out Site Inspection Forms. (Minimum of 10 a week) 

Equipment/Fleet Management

  • Inventory and Inspect Equipment Daily
    • Fill out Daily Equipment Inspection Log and return at end of week.
  • Driver Inspections/Log Book
    • Check each truck weekly to ensure this process is being completed by the driver.
  • Ensure equipment, vehicles and trailers are clean. 

Foreman Management

  • Weekly Foreman Meetings
  • Foreman Daily Checklist
  • Landscape Plan
    • Follow Annual Plan
  • Crew Training

Employee Management

  • Weekly Safety Tailgate Meetings with crew members
  • Manage Crew Roster
  • New hire/Onboarding
  • Reviews
  • Personally hand out Paychecks on Payday

End of the day

The 1-2 hours of the day is the 2nd most import part of the day. Checking vehicles and equipment, reporting/communicating issues to mechanic team and sending our teams home in a positive manner, after a hard days work.

  • Greet employees as they arrive back to the yard, ask them about their day.
  • "Check in" Vehicles and Equipment
  • Tag equipment for repair if needed.
  • Work/Communicate with Mechanic Team
  • Ensure equipment, vehicles and trailers are clean.
  • You are required to stay until your last crew is back in the yard, unloaded, clocked out and all required daily fleet inspection forms are completed.

* Last Field Supervisor is to Lock/Secure Yard and notify Mechanics that building/yard is in their control.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years prior landscape experience
  • Valid driver license, and clean motor vehicle record
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required

Certifications:

  • SLM
  • Arborist

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Working Conditions: Work is predominately outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels.
  • Frequently stand, walk, or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
