Position Summary: Responsible for the sale of Company maintenance service to designated and target accounts within an assigned geographical territory.

Essential Functions:To successfully fulfill this job position, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the skill and ability required.

 

  • Responsible for keeping accurate records of all activities, pending bids, and sales and pertinent account information on a regular basis. Records will be kept in accordance with current Company policies and will be provided to management at specified times. Records are to be used to keep management informed and assist in proper and timely follow up.
  • Responsible for maintaining cordial and cooperative relationships with all Company employees and the public. The Sales Representative will at all times exhibit professional behavior, thereby avoiding any actions that would discredit the Company or Company employee.
  • Must be able to work in the field prequalifying and reviewing the site.
  • Complies with all established company and department policies and procedures.
  • Must attend all designated meetings and participate as required.
  • Responsible for keeping track of all prospects in territory, maintaining regular contact with all prospects and identifying new prospects.
  • Responsible for making and keeping regular appointments with prospects.
  • Responsible for gathering all information necessary to sell, service and maintain accounts. Sales Representative is expected to make all efforts to collect any and all information that may have bearing on the status of any prospect or account.
  • Responsible for preparing bids and proposals for presentation to prospects.
  • Responsible for membership in at least one professional organization that caters directly or indirectly to prospects. Responsible to attend a minimum of one meeting per month.
  • Responsible for protecting all company proprietary information and any other information that may provide a sales or service advantage to a competitor.
  • Create and maintain an on-going prospecting and lead generation system.
  • Works five consecutive within normal business hours (7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). As a salaried exempt employee, you may be required to work after hours or weekends to accomplish goals.
  • Performs similar job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform similar job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to lift and carry, push and pull 20-50 pounds of landscape material.
  • Ability to walk/stand/squat/kneel/climb stairs.
  • Ability to make frequent repetitive movements with the left and right hand, wrist, ankle, and knee.
  • Ability to twist/turn/bend the trunk of the body frequently.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Possess and utilize good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, and manager
  • Must possess a valid California drivers' license with a driving record acceptable to the company's insurance carrier.
  • Possesses knowledge for application of commonly used pesticides.
  • Bachelor's degree in the Agricultural Sciences or 30 semester units of agricultural related courses and two years of technical experience or equivalent field experience and customer communication skills.

Working Conditons:

  • Inside an office environment as well as outdoors in temperatures ranging from cold 30° to heat of 100°+ and exposure to light rain.
  • Exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, noise and pollutants related to the landscape industry (fertilizer, pesticide, etc.)
  • Machinery/equipment noise, traffic and hazards related to the landscape industry in a busy commercial environment.
