Position Summary: The primary role of the Branch Manager (BM) is to manage, direct and oversee all areas of operations to assigned branches and/or services.  Responsible for building culture and cohesiveness, while maintaining structural leadership and providing support, training and supervision for all assigned field and management personnel. Ensure team members are adhering to company policies and procedures. This role will also engage in detail and be readily involved in meeting with clients while maintaining a culture of serving our customers that exceeds their expectations in the safest manner possible. The BM is responsible for the P&L’s for those branches and/or services assigned to them. This includes account profitability, employee recruitment and retention, customer retention, crew performance to budget, client satisfaction and quality work.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:  To successfully fulfill this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the skill and ability required:

 

Staff Management and Development

  • Uphold and promote all standards of safety as described in C&D’s policies and OSHA regulations. 
  • Implement and uphold current company policy, systems and procedures of all Field Operations, Safety, Quality Control and Technical Training Programs.
  • Ensure training and analysis of crews, production standards, and sharing of operational best practices.
  • Manage team performance based on roles, responsibilities, and goals for the branch team.
  • Monitor and hold all employees accountable for their duties and responsibilities and acceptable C&D performance levels.
  • Keeping vehicles, yards, and other work areas in good order.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of branch team members, including appropriate training, daily safety meetings, & PPE management.
  • Responsible for emergency calls after hours/weekends on a rotation among branch staff.
  • Guide the training and development of team members, including review and development of growth plans.
  • Train personnel in efficient time management, on and off the job.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and hiring of branch personnel where required, ensuring the right people with the appropriate skills and experience are in place to meet the branch goals.

 

Customer Service 

  • Ensure customer complaints are researched and responded to as soon as reasonably possible (ideally within 24 hours) 
  • Ensure all co-workers and customers are treated courteously.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient resolution of property issues, ensuring managers are fully informed at each stage of the process.

 

 

  • Develop and drive a culture of product delivery and continual improvement of the customer experience, working with your teams to enhance customer relationships.
  • Evaluate and develop plans for customer site audits/reviews.
  • Develop and manage a professional relationship with clients and relevant internal business teams, utilizing optimum communication methods to develop efficient and effective processes.

 

Business Performance & Development

  • Review and manage branch budget, P&L performance, cost to date sales items and overall financial health of the location.
  • Sales effort will include soliciting new and potential clients, assisting in sales presentations, preparing estimates, collecting production data, negotiating, and renewing contracts.
  • Work with company leaders to develop and implement future goals and processes and grow company grounds maintenance and seasonal services.
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure work bids are accurate and appropriately priced.
  • Work with the administration team to ensure all information relating to billing, accounts payable, payroll, and sub-contractor contracts/payments are delivered and updated in a timely fashion.
  • Forecasting and achieving financial goals and targets.
  • Actively prospect for potential clients and pursue new business relationships.  Develop growth strategy for your market by identifying key customer segments and individual prospects.
  • Evaluate and develop plans for the efficient use of equipment and materials, perform regular branch audits/reviews.
  • Review and approve all estimates for work in the branch.

Job Requirements

Qualifications, Education & Skills

  • Possess and utilize excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, and management.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in computer applications to support the position. (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Drive, etc.)
  • Must be a self-starter and driven.
  • Experience effectively managing others.
  • Prior business and sales development experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier.
  • Bachelor's degree in the Agricultural Sciences or 30 semester units of Horticultural or Agriculture/Environmental Sciences related courses preferred. Three or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
