Groundsman

Job Summary

Waverly Development is looking for exceptional people for Groundsman positions. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be responsive to visual cues and hand signals from the climber and act promptly with ground support
• Keep the work area clear of debris, cleaning up limbs and branches as they are brought down
• Rake the area to maintain a clear safety zone
• Line up branches and pile them appropriately for loading into the chipper
• Keep tools in the staging area and safety zone
• Assure that all lines are clear at all times
• Be attentive to the climber’s cues throughout the job, always keeping your eyes on the climber
• Haul brush
• Other duties as assigned by Leadman and/ or other Branch Management

 Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to take direction from Leadman and other Branch Management, and ability to communicate effectively with other team members
• Maintain a safe work environment
• Must have reliable transportation to and from our shop in Belmont, MA and must be willing to work extended hours and weekends

 Education and Experience/ Licenses:

• 1+ year of tree work experience preferred
• Experience using chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, stump grinders and other power equipment preferred
• Valid MA Driver’s License a plus
• DOT medical card and a CDL A are a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand and walk long distances
• Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures
• Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds

Job Type: Full-time, seasonal with the option to work during snow operations

Pay Range: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour depending upon experience
