Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader- HeMan

Job Summary

Primary Purpose:  The Crew Leader will be responsible for keeping the landscape green and healthy.  The landscape must be free of weeds, pests, and rubbish.  The irrigation system must be in working condition.  The equipment, tools, and vehicles must be cared for on a daily basis.  The Crew Leader will train and supervise the workers and manage the time spent on each job site to insure it is done in the allotted time set.

 

Essential Functions  

  • Mow lawns by using a push mower, walk behind mower and riding mower.
  • Edge lawn and ground cover, keeping edges no more than 1/4 of an inch wide.
  • Trim hedges, straight and neat.
  • Trim trees on the property whose height are 10 feet and lower.
  • Identify and properly treat plant material for bugs and disease.
  • Apply Slug Bait to pothos, weidelia, valve boxes, and other plants as needed.
  • Blow down and clean parking lots and walkways.
  • Check sprinklers after every visit, turning them on at the controller only.
  • Keep fences, plants, and trees free from vines and weeds.
  • Repair irrigation when needed and approved, immediately report repairs to supervisor.
  • Replant bare areas and aerate soil annually or as needed.
  • Pull and remove weeds from the landscape - by the root.
  • Fertilize lawn, garden, hedges, and other areas as scheduled.
  • Apply pesticides and herbicides for lawn, garden, hedges and other areas as needed, following MSDS Standards.
  • Drive company vehicles to and from various scheduled job sites.
  • Service company vehicles (changing fluids, checking air in the tires, filling gas tank, safety checks, cleaning trucks and equipment on a daily basis and washing the vehicles down every Friday.
  • Perform other related duties as may be required or assigned.

 

Other Functions

  • Assist customers with their various needs.
  • Complete a service record for each job site.
  • Report any concerns or work that needs to followed-up on

Job Requirements

Working Conditions:  Work outdoors in all types of weather and many different types of conditions such as: dusty, hot, muddy, level properties, and steep hillside properties.  Frequent use of a variety of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides.

 

Equipment Used:  Push mower, riding mower, large walk behind mower, weed-wacker, edger, hedge trimmer, chain saws, blowers, pole pruner, and various types of hand tools.

 

Work Hours:  6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, or as needed for Saturdays and Emergencies or as scheduled.

 

Physical, Mental, and Communication Demands:  

  • Requires frequent lifting of at least 50 lbs.   
  • Requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and moving equipment.
  • Requires operating power equipment which is heavy and loud. 
  • Good communication skills; verbally and written

 

Skills/Knowledge:  Must know how to operate machinery, be able to follow instructions and safety procedures, including safety rules of operating equipment.  Must have strong decision making and good supervisory skills.
